Almost all LMSC Travel Team head coaches
are non-parent coaches with significant soccer backgrounds as players and / or coaches. Many coaches on our staff also coach at the high school
or college level.
Our club continues to migrate to having more and more non-parent coaches on our staff. These coaches are not volunteers so the cost of playing travel team soccer is higher.
But, in our opinion, the development of top players has increased dramatically in recent years. Below is a brief look at the soccer backgrounds of some of our travel team coaches:
Anthony Bafile (U-12D boys coach) -
Anthony is an assistant coach for the Haverford College Men's Varsity. Before that, he coached at Bayard Rustin High School.
Anthony was a two year captain and four year player for the Drexel University Men's team. While at Drexel, he was voted to the Philadelphia Soccer
Seven All-Star Team two years and was a second team All-Conference selection. After college, Anthony played for the FC Reading Revolution in the NPSAL.
Anthony led his high school to the state finals two years in a row and earned NSCAA High School All-American honors. He currently holds a USSF 'D' license.
Shawn Boney (U-10D boys coach) - Shawn played professionally for well over 10 years, including several years for the Philadelphia Kixx indoor team. Shawn played for the
Trindad & Tobago Men's National Team. Shawn played for Trinidad & Tobago in the Under 20 World Cup in 1991. Shawn is head coach for Germantown Friends High School varsity team.
Shawn was first team All American (Division II) at Southern Connecticut State University and helped them win the NCAA Division II national championship.
Bill Brady (U-16B boys coach) - Head coach for The Haverford School varsity. Before coaching at The Haverford School, Bill was the head coach for the
Haverford College Men's Varsity team. Prior to coaching at Haverford College, Bill was the head
coach for Greensboro (North Carolina) College where he won three South Atlantic Conference championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances in four years. His
2005 and 2007 teams made it to the Regional Finals of the NCAA tournament. They were ranked # 2 in the national rankings for much of the 2007 season. Before that, Bill
was the Men's coach at Division One St. Bonaventure (New York) University for six seasons, earning national rankings twice in that time. As a player, Bill was First-Team
All-New England at Wheaton College and was named Senior Athlete Of The Year. Before moving to Pennsylvania, Bill was a youth coach and Executive Director for the Guilford
United Futbol Club in North Carolina.
Michael Cerrato (U-13C boys coach) - Michael played for Lake Grove club team (two time Long Island champions), nationally ranked Chaminade High School and Saint Joseph's University.
Michael was an assistant coach for Eleanor Roosevelt High School girls varsity in Maryland. He has coached youth soccer for six years.
Jaclyn Conn (U-10B girls coach and U-11B girls coach) - At Cardinal O'Hara high school, Jaclyn received All-Catholic League honors four years in a row. She
earned All-Delco area honors three years and was a member of the Delaware County All Stars for four years. Jaclyn was a four year starter at Temple University where she
received A-10 Rookie of the week honors in her freshman year and later earned Atlantic 10 player of the week honors.
Niki Conn (U-10C girls coach) - Niki was a four year standout at Division I Temple University where she led the team in
scoring all four years that she played. During her career at Temple, Niki scored 27 goals and had 8 assists.
As a youth player, her club team won numerous state championships and high level tournaments.
Before coaching at LMSC, she was an assistant coach for several teams at the Southampton Soccer Club.
She has also coached for many years at the Temple University summer camps.
Matt Cox (U-10A boys coach) - Matt played professionally for the South Jersey Barons, Proton FC (Malaysian Premier League), Village United (Jamaica), Quick Boys (Holland) and
FC Will (Switzerland second division). Before that, Matt played at the University of Maine and at St. Joseph's University.
Matt has also coached at the high school level.
Matt has been coaching in our U-8 program and our Summer Soccer Program for six years.
In 2010, his Under 9 boys team were state cup quarter-finalists. In 2010, his U-10B boys travel team were Delco League
division one finalist, losing the championship game to the LMSC U-10A team.
In 2011, his team were indoor state cup finalists, losing the state championship game to the LMSC U-10A team.
Ted Domers (U-9A boys coach) - Ted began playing soccer at LMSC at the age of five. He led the LMSC Lunatics to the
1994 Under 11 State Championship. Ted was a four year starter
at Goucher College where he was team captain as a senior. Ted returned to the area and has been coaching at LMSC since 2005.
Ted has was a head coach in the travel team Program for several years and is now co-coach of the Under 9A boys LMSC Swamp Pigs team.
Ted is currently working for his doctorate degree in education.
Greig Edwards (U-11B boys coach) - Greig was a four year varsity member and three year starter at Philadelphia University.
After finishing his playing career at Philadelphia University, Greig joined the coaching staff there.
Greig also played for the Trinidad & Tobago Under 17 National Team. Greig has worked on the camp staff for the Philadelphia Kixx
and Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association. He is also a coach in the Philly Futsal program.
Nicole Posillico Epps (U-10A girls coach and Under 8 girls coach, LMSC Officer and club bookkeeper) - Nicole earned all county and all state honors in high school.
Her club team, CT Omni, were national champions in 1994 and national finalists in 1995. She was a four year starter for the Villanova University Women's team.
Her 23 goals and 54 total points at Villanova both rank in the top 20 in school history. Nicole was the
head coach for the LMSC Shock travel team for six years. She is the founder and original head of the LMSC Summer Soccer Program for travel team players. Nicole
helped form the LMSC Under 8 Developmental Travel Team Academy program.
Rasheed Epps (U-11A girls coach, U-14A girls coach and Director of the LMSC Girls Travel Team Program) -
Rasheed is the assistant coach for the Rosemont College Men's Varsity team. Rasheed earned All league honors in high school. He later
played for the Millersville University Men's team, Montco Azzuri Men's team (1998 regional semifinalists) and PA Rush Over 30 Men's team (2008 regional semifinalists).
Rasheed has been coaching youth soccer for over 20 years. In 2010, Rasheed was voted LMSC Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year.
Mike Falsetta (U-13A boys coach and U-14B boys coach) - Mike has been on the coaching staff at Penn Charter School for three years. He also coaches baseball there. Mike has been coaching soccer for over 13 years.
Before coaching at Penn Charter, Mike was the freshman coach at Roman Catholic High School for five years and the JV coach for two years.
In 2001, Mike was voted the EPYSA intramural coach of the year. He later coached in the Lighthouse club, led his team to the Leagues United state championship and a
second place finish in the EPYSA state cups. In 2010, Mike was voted LMSC boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year.
Paul Ferreira (U-16A boys coach and U-12C girls coach) - Paul has been coaching soccer since 1997 at the youth, high school, college and adult levels. He led
Manor College Women's team to a state championshp in 2004. Paul has coached several adult men's teams in the United Soccer League as well as the Hispanic League of
Philadelphia. He has earned coaching licenses in the USA and Brazil. Paul also led his PSC Coppa Pele U-16 boys Team to the 2008 US Club Regional Champions, advancing to Nationals
and finishing third in the nation. In 2010, Paul led his U-14 LMSC Lightning to the state cup finals and to the Delco Soccer League division one championship.
In 2009 PSC Coppa Pele U-17 boys won 2009 US Club Regional championship.
Paul holds an NSCAA National coaching license and as well as a UEFA B license which he earned in England.
Paul is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Rachel Gallegos (U-08A girls coach) - As a youth player, Rachel played in the California North Olympic Development Program. She was a
four year All Conference selection in high school and a four year player at Clemson University, making two Elite 8 appearances in the NCAA tournament. Rachel has
coached at the high school level and recently earned her USYSA 'D' level coaching license. In 2009, Rachel led the U-15 LMSC Strikers to the PAGS League Championship.
Pete Gangl (U-12A girls coach) -
Pete has been coaching youth soccer for over 18 years including the last 12 with LMSC. Pete coached our LMSC Stingrays girls team through U-14 and the
LMSC Mustangs boys team from U-13 through U-18. The Mustangs were ranked in the top 10 in the state and won the Indoor State Cups at Under 17.
Pete also coached the LMSC Fury team at U-9 and U-10 years and was the first LMSC girls coach to lead a girls B team in the top division of PAGS, finishing with a 4-5 record.
Many of Pete's former players are currently playing at the college level. Pete currently coaches the LMSC Storm girls, our U-11A girls team. In 2011,
the Storm finished with the top record in the PAGS first division. The Storm have reached the semifinals of the state cups and the semifinals of
the indoor state cups. Pete holds a USSF National License, NSCAA diploma, NSCAA Goalkeeper Diploma
and a USFF Futsal Certification. In 2006 Pete was honored as the LMSC girls travel team Coach Of The Year.
Jared Harris (U-9B boys coach) -
Jared was a four year player at Temple University, starting all four years that he was on the team. Before coming to LMSC, Jared coached in
other clubs, most recently in the U-10 and U-15 age groups. Jared is an employee at YSC Sports, the official youth development center for the Philadelphia Union.
David "DJ" Jones (U-18A boys coach) - DJ Played in the Wimbledon Football Club in London where he made it to the final 150 players selected for the
England National School of Excellence (out of 20,000 players). He later played semi-professionally in England where he also served as a youth coach.
DJ came to the Philadelphia area in 1997 and coached for the LMSC Rage girls team (two time state cup finalists) for many years.
He was captain of the Villanova University Men's Team and later served as the assistant coach at Villanova for three years.
Michael Mann (U-9C boys coach) - Mike has been on the coaching staff at Springfield (Delco) High School since 2005 where he is also a teacher.
Mike has served as the head coach for both the Springfield boys JV and the Springfield freshman teams. Before coaching at Springfield,
Mike coached the JV at Upper Darby High School as well as serving as the assistant varsity coach at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School.
As a player, Mike was a four year varsity player at Conwell-Egan.
Grant Myers (U-8 boys coach and Travel Team Coordinator) - Grant is the assistant coach for the Harriton High School boys varsity.
Grant served as the assistant coach for the Marple Newtown High School boys varsity. Before coaching at Marple,
Grant was the assistant coach for Lower Merion High School (2007 Central League champions and District One champions).
Grant played for the Lock Haven University's Men's team before moving on to play semiprofessionally for many years.
He is currently head coach for the FC Delco Under 12 USSF Academy team. Grant was Assistant coach for nationally ranked
FC Delco Cannibals (2009 and 2010 state champions). In 2009, Grant's LMSC Rat Pack team won the state championship. They were state finalists in 2008 and 2010.
Ptah Myers (U-11A boys coach and U-10B boys coach) - Ptah is the head coach for the Philadelphia University Men's team (NCAA Division One).
Ptah is currently a member of the US National Futsal team.
Ptah played professionally for several years, helping the Philadelphia Kixx win the MISL championship in 2007. He had over
50 career goals and over 100 career points for the Kixx from 2004 - 2010.
Ptah played at the University of Massachusetts, leading the team in scoring as a senior. As a youth player, Ptah was all state
in high school and was selected for the Region One USA team.
Will Nord (U-13A boys coach) - Will is the head coach for the Rosemont College Men's Varsity. Will was voted Coach Of The Year in 2009 for his college conference.
Will led the LMSC Denali to the Under 11 Boys state finals in 2011.
Will played for the LMSC Gorillas, 1990 indoor and outdoor state champions. Will has been coaching in LMSC for ten years,
previously coaching the LMSC Roadkill and LMSC Nimrods. Will was head coach in the FC Delco Program where his Under 17 team were state champions, regional champions
and national finalists in 2007.
Before coaching at Rosemont College, Will served as head coach for the Cardinal O'Hara boys varsity for three years as well as assistant coach for Bayard Rustin High School.
Miguel Nuila (U-11A boys coach) - In 2009, Miguel was honored by our State Association (EPYSA) as their boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year.
Miguel's U-19 LMSC Velez won several
state championships, placing 3rd in the nation in 2009. The team also won the prestigous National League, comprised of 16 of the top teams
in the nation. Miguel has been the head coach for the Velez for 11 years. With the help of Miguel, almost all of the Velez players
advanced to playing in collge in the fall of 2010. His Velez team will be competing in the USL Super 20 League in the summer of 2011.
Pat Printz (U-9D boys coach) - Pat played for the Drexel University men’s team. Before that, he played at West Chester East high school where
he was a four year varsity letter winner. Pat also earned all league and all area honors while playing at East.
Pat currently coaches in the Player Development Program (PDP) at YSC Sports.
Jess Reynolds (U-13A girls coach) - Jess has been the head coach for the St. Joseph's University Women's Varsity team for the past nine years. Jess has taken her college team on trips
to Brazil and Norway. Before coaching at St. Joseph's, Jess was the head coach at West Chester University. Jess was a four year starter at Delaware University and is
working on her Master's Degree. She was also a head coach in the FC Delco girls program for several years.
Angel Rivillo (U-14A boys coach) - Angel played professionally for over 10 years. He is currently a member of the US National Futsal Team.
In 2010, he played for the Philadelphia Kixx indoor team. Prior to
that, he played in the MLS (our nation's top outdoor professional league) with the Chicago Fire and FC Dallas. He also played professionally in his home
country Venezuela for Deportivo Tachira. Angel was an All-American
scholar athlete at Creighton University. He has coached youth teams from U-9 through U-19 since 2002 and currently works with youth players at the Starfinder Foundation
in Philadelphia.
Megan Ross (U-13A girls coach and U-15A girls coach) - Megan played soccer at Elizabethtown College and with Boyertown and Pottsgrove travel leagues. Megan has been coaching soccer at
various levels since 2003. This includes coaching high school, travel teams and intramural soccer. Megan
also assisted with Boyertown's TOPSoccer program. She has her NSCAA Advanced Regional coaching license.
Nico Severini (U-9A girls coach and U-17A girls coach) - Nico is the head coach for Lower Merion High School boys varsity,
the 2010 District One Champions. Before coaching at LMHS, Nico was head coach for the
Plymouth-Whitemarsh Boys Varsity. As a youth, Nico was on the Region One USA team and in the National team pool. In high school, Nico
was voted the Central League Player Of The Year and was a high school regional All-American
and All-State selection. Nick trained internationally in Sevilla (Spain) and Independiente and Liniers (Argentina). As a youth player, his FC Delco club team qualified
for nationals three times. He was a four year player at the University of Pennsylvania (Ivy League champions). Nico is also a head coach for the EPYSA Olympic
Development Program.
Amy Smerdzinski (Under 16A girls coach) - Amy was a four year player at Wake Forest University where she recorded 16 goals and 7
assists. Amy travelled to Spain with the USA Under 23 Women's team in 2009. As a youth player in Virginia,
her club team won eight straight state championships as well as
four straight Region One championships. They were two time national finalists in 2001 and 2002. She was also invited into the national team camp twice as a youth player.
Amy also had a tryout with the Philadelphia Independence in 2010.
Paul Stinson (Under 12B boys and Under 12B girls coach) -
Before coaching at LMSC, Paul was an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at Colgate University for the men's team and the women's team. Both teams
won a Patriot League regular season title while Paul was at Colgate and both made the NCAA Division I playoffs. The men's program was nationally ranked
during Paul's time at Colgate. Paul also served as the Director Of Coaching for Odyssey Sport Soccer Club in New York. Before coaching at Colgate,
Paul was the head coach for four years for the Colby-Swayer College (New Hampshire) women's team as well as the women's lacrosse team. He also coached
at Clarkson University and Iowa Central Community College. As a player, Paul earned All-New England honors in high school and played at Kenyon
College, NCAA Division III national finalists. Paul is currently working for his Master's degree in Leadership, through Duquesne University.
Biff Sturla (U-9A boys coach and U-12A boys coach) - Biff has been the President of LMSC since 1999. Before that, he was Vice President for 15 years.
Biff has coached in the club for 30 years. Biff played in the club for many years as a youth. As a coach, his teams have won 14 Delco League Division One championships,
20 State Championships (11 outdoor and 9 indoor), three Region One USA Championships and one second place finish at Nationals.
His current U-11 team have won the Delco League division one championship three straight years and won the EPYSA Indoor State Cups three straight years.
In 2010, Biff's U-9 boys (the LMSC Sabertooth Rats) and his U-15 boys (FC Delco Cannibals) were both crowned state champions. Biff was voted the
2006 EPYSA Coach Of The Year, NSCAA Regional Coach Of The Year and was a finalist for the NSCAA National Coach Of The Year.
Biff has been the head coach for Harriton High School Boys Varsity since 2002, leading Harriton to the 2006 District One AA championship. As a high school coach,
Biff has been voted the 2004 Del-Val League Coach Of The Year, 1999 and 2002
Main Line Life Coach Of The Year, 1999
Philadelphia Inquirer Coach Of The Year and 1997 Central League Coach Of The Year.
Mark Weinmann (U-15A boys coach) - Mark served for many years as head coach for Chestnut Hill Academy's boys varsity, the 2007 Inter-Ac league champions.
In 2008 and 2009, Mark led the LMSC Magic to back to back state championships. Before that, his LMSC Arsenal were two time state finalists at U-13 and U-14.
Mark was an all state goalkeeper at St. Joseph's Prep and four time state champion with Wynnewood Soccer club (now part of LMSC).
Mark was the starting goalkeeper for Boston College as a freshman. Mark was an assistant coach at Bridgewater State University before returning to the area when he began
coaching in LMSC.
Dan Weiss (U-12C boys coach) - As a youth player, Dan was an All Southeastern Pennsylvania selection, all league selection
and two time captain for Harriton High School. He was the captain for the Syracuse University men's club team. Dan played in LMSC for ten years. Dan's father Ed was
a coach in LMSC for ten years.
Ian Wildey (U-11C boys coach) - Ian played professionally indoors for the Baltimore Blast of the MISL and for the Delaware Wizards.
Ian was a four year starter and two year captain at Towson University, was team MVP and two time All-Conference selection. As a youth, Ian
was a six year member of the Maryland Olympic Development Program and team captain for four years. He was a two time all state selection
and two year captain in high school, winning the state championship once. Ian was an assistant coach at Towson University and Head Coach
for Soccer International Clinics and Summer Camps in Baltimore for three years.
Kara Williams (U-11C girls coach and goalkeeper trainer) - Kara was a four year player at Temple University, starting three years in goal for the Owls. Kara
was a Connecticut ODP player for four years and was named to the Region I USA team as a youth. She led her club team to three state championships and was all state
in high school. Kara runs the goalkeeper training program for LMSC travel team goalies in the spring and the fall.
