UNDER 12 SEASON
November, 2006: Delco Soccer League - Champions -
The Cannibals won the Delco League top division championship for the fourth consecutive year. The Cannibals became the
first team in the history of the Lower Merion Soccer Club to win their league championship four years in a row. For
the second consecutive year, the Cannibals defeated the Montgomery Maniacs 1-0 in the championship game. The only goal
of the game came from Brett Campbell. Goalie Kevin Lawson recorded the teams seventh shutout in nine games during the
season.
UNDER 11 SEASON
March, 2006: Jefferson Cup (Ridchmond, VA) - Champions -
The Cannibals took first place in the top flight of the toughest tournament in the Eastern United States, going 4-0,
scoring 10 goals and allowing 1 goal
The Cannibals’ defense proved very strong all year as they allowed only five goals in 13 games. They ended the year with four straight shutouts, thanks to the excellent play of goalie Kevin Lawson and defenders Michael “The Savage” Discavage, Jason Shein, CD McGlynn, Alex Dubow and “The Gonzo Brothers,” Andrew and Danny Gonzalez, who recently moved in from Virginia.
The Cannibals scored 47 goals in their 13 games. A very strong midfield was able to constantly get the ball out of the defensive end of the field and into the offensive end, thanks to the efforts of Sean “Conan” O’Brien, Devin “Devo” McLaughlin, Gabe Boni, Mark Abi-Khattar. Brett Campbell used his size and strength during the season to be one of the leading scorers during the fall season.
August, 2005: Spirit Kickoff Classic Tournament - Champions -
The Cannibals defeated two state champions along the way to winning the Spirit Kickoff Classic Tournament in Downingtown.
The Cannibals opened the tournament against Dix Hills, the New York state champions. The Cannibals won an exciting 3-1
game. Later in the tournament, the Cannibals defeated defending Pennsylvania state champion Yardley-Makefield by the
score of 4-0. In the championship game, the Cannibals defeated PA Classics from Lancaster, PA by the score of 2-0.
UNDER 10 SEASON
May, 2005: FC Delco Players Cup Tournament - Champions -
Playing against some of the best teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, the Cannibals went
5-0 and won the FC Delco Players Cup. In the championship game, the Cannibals defeated
the Manhatten Kickers 5-1, led by two goals from the newest player, Brett Campbell.
January, 2005: Leagues United Indoor Cups - Champions -
The Cannibals repeated as Leagues United Indoor Cup champions. The Cannibals defeated
the CASA Venom from Harrisburg in the semifinals, then defeated
PA Classics (Lancaster area) in the finals. Matthew Lindheim and Mark Abi-Khattar led the
team's offense while Alex Dubow and CD McGlynn anchored a very strong defense.
November, 2004: Delco Soccer League: Division One Champions -
The Cannibals finished a perfect league season, going 12-0 and repeating as Delco Soccer
League Division One Champions. The Cannibals defeated a very talented West Chester United
Lightning team 2-0 in the finals. Kevin Lawson and Matthew Lindheim each scored for the
Cannibals while goaltender Jeffrey Green made a fantastic save in the second half to earn
the shutout. The Cannibals are now 21-0-1 in their two years of play in the Delco League.
UNDER 9 SEASON
June, 2004: Lehigh Valley Select Tournament: Champions -
The Cannibals went 4-0 scoring about 34 goals and allowing 3 goals, playing up a year at U-10.
June, 2004: Leagues United Cup: Finalists -
The Cannibals played the championship game vs. Yardley-Makefield. The team was down 3-1 but
put in two goals to force overtime. Early in overtime, the Cannibals took the lead by Yardley
tied the game to force a penalty kick shootout to determine the championship. Yardley took the
PK's 4-2, but the Cannibals played very hard and should be proud of their effort through
regulation and overtime.
May, 2004: Philly Soccer Club Memorial Day Weekend Tournament: Finalists -
Playing up a year, the Cannibals won all three of their bracket games. In the finals, the
Cannibals played the Lower Merion U-10s. The Cannibals were down 2-1 with 20 seconds left in
regulation but Jason Shein put a left footed blast from 25 yards out into the net to force
overtime. Neither team was able to score in overtime so the game went to PK's, where the older
Lower Merion boys dashed the youngsters hopes of a championship.
February, 2004: Leagues United Indoor Cups: Champions -
The Cannibals won the Leagues United Indoor Cup Championships going 5-0-0, scoring 24 goals
and allowing only 4 goals during the 10 team tournament. In preliminary round play,
the team defeated Council Rock Sting 5-0, Philadelphia Soccer Club Stars 5-0, Buckingham
Fire 9-0 and Yardley-Makefield Attack 2-1. The Championship game was won in overtime 4-3 on
a golden goal by Alex Dubow. Goaltender Jeffrey Green recorded three shutouts in five games.
January, 2003: Rocket Sports Under 10 Indoor League Champions -
The Cannibals captured the Under 10 League Championship at Rocket Sports, playing up a year.
The Cannibals also were semifinalists in the Under 11 indoor league, playing up two years.
November 2004: Emil Schillinger Thanksgiving Tournament: Champions -
The Cannibals finished off the fall outdoor season with another tournament championship,
defeating Council Rock in the championship game.
November 2003: Delco Soccer League, Under 9 Division 1: Champions -
The Cannibals finished the Delco Soccer League season by winning the end of season playoffs,
defeating Philadelphia Soccer Club 3-1. The team finished the league season with nine wins,
zero losses and one tie. In the semifinals, the Cannibals defeated Concord 3-1.
September 2003: Ross Haney Labor Day Tournament - Champions - The Cannibals went 5-0-0
to win the 10 team competition, played in Northeast Philadelphia. The Cannibals scored 27
goals and allowed 5 in the five games.
August 2003: Gettysburg Battlefield Blast Tournament - Champions -
The boys' U-9 A team Cannibals won the Gettysburg Blast tournament going
6-0 by a combined score of 41-2. Devin McLaughlin scored the first goal
in each game to get the ball rolling and Sean O'Brien, Alex Dubow,
Matthew Lindheim and Chris Morgan all had multiple goals during the
weekend. The strong defense was anchored by Jason Shein and Ryan
O'Connell. Gabe Boni, Mark Abi-Khattar and guest player TJ Vecere
played strong throughout the tournament at multiple positions to create
scoring opportunities for the Cannibals and to stop the other teams.
October, 2006: Yardley-Makefield Columbus Day Tournament) - Finalists -
After a scoreless overtime, the Cannibals lost a penalty shot shootout in the championship game against Bethesda,
Maryland. The score was 1-1 at the end of regulation. The Cannibals defeated Dix Hills (New York State Champions)
3-1 in the semifinals. In their five games, the Cannibals were never trailing at at any time.
August, 2006: Spirit United Kickoff Classic - Semifinalist -
The Cannibals got to the semifinals of th tournament with some very impressive play. Their opponent was
Yardley-Makefield. After a scoreless regulation and overtime, the two teams went into penalty shots to decide who
would advance to the finals. Unfortunately, the Cannibals came up on the short end of the kicks.
January, 2006: EPYSA Indoor State Cups - Finalists -
The Cannibals reached the EPYSA Indoor State Cup finals but came up short in the championship game, losing to their
rivals Montgomery Maniacs 2-1.
November, 2005: Delco Soccer League - Division One Champions -
The Cannibals had another successful year in Delco League play, winning the top division for the third year in a row. The competition was very strong, it included the top eight teams from Pennsylvania, the top three teams from Delaware and a very strong team from Baltimore. The Cannibals defeated PA Classics from Lancaster 4 - 0 in the semifinals on goals by Alex Dubow, Ben Marks, Nick Tucci and Matthew Lindheim. In the championship game, the Cannibals defeated Montgomery Maniacs 1 - 0 as Marks hit a shot from 20 yards out that the goalie made a diving save on. Before the goalie could recover, Lindheim knocked in the rebound.
