Former LMSC Player Ben Olsen Selected For USA World Cup Team |
The Lower Merion Soccer Club would like to congratulate former LMSC player Ben Olsen for representing the USA in the 2006 World Cup, held June 9 - July 9 in Germany. Olsen came on in the second half of the game against Ghana, replacing injured team captain Claudio Reyna at center midfield.
Olsen, who grew up in the Harrisburg area, played for the Lower Merion Gorillas when the team was in the Under 14 age group. Olsen later starred at the University of Virginia, where he as NCAAA Player Of The Year. He has played for DC United of MLS soccer for seven years and represented the USA in the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
