LMSC STORM (U-17A GIRLS) ARE
SEMIFINALISTS AT REGION ONE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 4, 2017 - The Region One Championships is a tournament for all state champions from Maine through West Virginia in the U-12 through U-19 age groups. LMSC Storm were crowned U-17 girls state champions and advanced to the Region One championships, held in Spotsylvania, Virginia. This was the second straight year that the Storm were state champions and advanced to Regionals.

The Storm opened up their bracket competition with a hard fought 1-1 tie against Beachside FC, the Connecticut state champions. The next day, the Storm easily defeated the Rochester Rhinos 3-0. The Storm followed that up with a 5-0 win over FC Stars, the New Hampshire state champions.

The team's 2-0-1 record earned them a trip to the semifinals where they face defending Region One Champion HBC Impact from Long Island, New York. The game was a great defensive battle with neither team willing to make a mistake defensively. Regulation ended with the score still 0-0. The first overtime also did not produce a goal. In the second and final overtime period, HBC scored what proved to be the game winner to advance to the finals where they defeated Princeton, New Jersey 2-1 and earn a spot at the National Championships.

LMSC would like to congratulate all the Storm members, as well as head coach Pete Gangl and assistant coach Dan Mouw on an excellent showing at Regionals.
