FORMER LMSC OFFICER CASEY ICHNIOWSKI CELEBRATES USA MEN'S TEAM VICTORY OVER MEXICO WITH JURGEN KLINSMANN, LANDON DONOVAN AND US SOCCER PRESIDENT SUNIL GULATI



September 14, 2013 - When the USA Men's team defeated Mexico 2-0 in Columbus, Ohio, it meant that the USA team was close to clinching a spot in the 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil. After the game, Honduras and Panama tied, clinching the spot in the 2014 World Cup for the USA. In the picture below, USA Men's National Team Coach Jurgen Klinsmann (center) celebrates with US Soccer President Sunil Gulati (far right).

At the far left, in the lower corner is former LMSC Officer and Travel Team Coach Casey Ichniowski. Ichniowski is a professor at Columbia University with Sunil Gulati and is currently working with Gulati on some soccer related projects. Standing to the left of Casey is Bob Contiguglia, President of US Soccer from 1998-2006. In the background, behind the USA flag, is USA star Landon Donovan, talking with MLS President Don Garber. At the far right in the back is USA Men's National Team goalie Brad Guzan.

Ichniowski led the LMSC Heart to back to back state championships and four PAGS League division one championships. The Heart were the most successful girls travel team in the history of LMSC.
