LIGHTNING (U-14A BOYS) WIN MAPS CUP TOURNAMENT



June 19, 2011 -   The lightning played in the Maps cup this weekend and won the whole tournament. Despite losing two players to injury, the Lightning rallied and went on to beat Upper Freehold, NJ by the score of 4-1. Upper Freehold is currently ranked #10 in the country. Then Lightning then beat Lehigh Valley in penalty kicks. Lehigh Valley is the current state champion and ranked # 2 in the country.

The Lightning then beat Downtown United from New York, by the score of 2-1. Downtown United is ranked # 5 in the country.

Congratulations to the Lightning on defeating several of the best teams in the country to win the MAPS Cup Tournament. The Lightning are coached by Paul Ferreira (head coach) and assistant coach Ricardo Santos.
