HERRICANES (U-9A GIRLS) TAKE SECOND PLACE
IN INDOOR STATE CUPS

January 22, 2011 - The LMSC Herricanes (U-9A girls) went 2-0-1 in pool play with a 4-1 win, 3-3 tie and a 3-2 win. This put them on top of their bracket and put them int he semi-finals. In the semi-finals the team won in sudden death overtime 4-3 to advance to the championship game against HMMS. In a great final, the Herricanes were on the short end of a 4-3 score.

Out of 12 girls we had 6 goal scorers: Allison Schwab, Brynne Menen, Caroline Blackman, Hannah Brainsky, Natalie Pansini and Bridget Tucker. Our defense, consisting of Teresa Cato, Rena Contract and Abbie Rorke, was strong throughout the tournament. Goalie Amelia Leyden made some great saves and kept us in every game. Rebecca Lovelace and Izzy MacFarlane didn't get on the scoreboard but contributed both on the offensive end and defensive end. The team played exceptionally well and stayed true to our outside style of play even though the facility had boards.

The Herricanes were honored the next day by NBC 10 on their nightly news cast. CLICK HERE to see a video of the NBC 10 news cast.

Congratulations to the LMSC Herricanes on a great performance.
