LMSC UNITED (U-14C BOYS)
WIN DELCO LEAGUE UNDER 14 DIVISION 6

November 14, 2010 - The Lower Merion United won its first Delco League Championship, posting a 2-1 victory over the WestMont Storm in the U14 Division 6 final on Sunday. The United went down 1-0 early in the game, but stayed focused and scored the equalizer late in the first half and the game winner in the 20th minute of the second half. The United earned a spot in the finals with a thrilling 1-0 semi-final victory over the Rose Tree Blue Jays, avenging a loss from the previous weekend.

The championship was particularly exciting for the team as it marked its first finals victory after 5 trips to the league playoffs, including 4 consecutive trips to the championship game. The team placed 3rd in the regular season with a 6-2 record and finished its Delco season at 8-2, scoring 25 goals and allowing only 9.

The United opened its season by playing in the U-15 Division of the WestMont Battle at HillTop tournament and gained some valuable experience that would help them during the season. The team continued its strong play at the Columbus Day YMS tourney. Facing tough competition, the United displayed its persistent attacking style and disciplined, stingy defensive approach that would be critical to their success in the second half of the Delco season. The United will conclude their outdoor season at the Hempfield tournament and will continue to play in both a winter indoor league and spring outdoor league.

Congratulations to the United players and coaches!
