GREMIO TAKE SECOND AT ROSS HANEY LABOR DAY WEEKEND TOURNAMENT



September 6, 2010 - LMSC Gremio had a sensational weekend at Ross-Haney, finishing in second place in the Boys U11 8v8 Championship level.

Gremio advanced to the championship game in dramatic fashion after beating South Jersey Elite Barons Blues in penalty kicks. Trailing 1-0 late in the second half, Gremio tied the game on a goal scored by Marc Colavita. After a scoreless overtime, the drama of PKs. Benji Hirshman, Ethan Rodgers and Mason Lesser scored and goalkeeper Tyler Lam was the hero with two incredible saves.

In the championship game, a similar story took place against Hockessin Blizzard from Delaware. A questionable penalty kick call put the boys down 1-0 early in the game. But Gremio kept fighting, eventually tying the game on a phenomenal goal by Jamie Bregman. Hockessin scored on a fluke goal in OT but Gremio never quit, coming close to tie the game in the last seconds of overtime.
