2006 COACH OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Each year, the LMSC Officers honor our top travel team coaches and one intramural coach for outstanding contribution to the club as well as overall success in adhering to the club philosophy of "providing each child with a fun filled experience in a soccer environment."

Our Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award goes to Pete Gangl, head coach of the Under 9 LMSC Fury. Pete has been with LMSC for many years, having coached the LMSC Stingrays up through the Under 14 season. This year, because of his love of soccer and working with young athletes, Pete returned to take a younger girls team. Under Pete’s leadership, the Fury were the first girls ‘B’ team in the club to ever play in the top division of PAGS. They finished with a very impressive 4-5 record in that very competitive division. Midway through the season, Pete was hired to also coach our U-14 boys team, the LMSC Mustangs which had lost their previous coach. LMSC would like to thank Pete for returning to the club and thank him for his excellent coaching job by honoring him as the 2006 Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year.

Our Boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award goes to Matt McConnell, head coach for the Under 9 D Dynamo and the Under 11 C Fireballs. Under Matt’s dedicated leadership, both teams reached the championship game of their division. The Dynamo defeated the Del-Val Hurricanes in the semifinals before losing to the Interboro Bucs in the Under 9 Division 5 finals. The Fireballs defeated the Nether Providence Assault in their semifinals, then lost a tough championship game to Yardley Americans. This fall, Matt was also the assistant coach for his daughter’s 6 year old intramural team. LMSC would like to thank Matt for all of his great work as a coach over the past years by honoring him as our Boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year

Our Intramural Coach Of The Year Award goes to Dan Bubnis who ran our Cosmos and Majors Divisions in the intramural program. These are our 11-13 year old divisions and are quite competitive. They are the only divisions that have standings and playoffs. Under Dan’s excellent leadership, both divisions were well organized and ran well all fall. Dan was always getting all information out to coaches in plenty of time, ensuring that referees were available, making sure that schedules were maintained and making sure that standings were posted promptly. Dan has been a great addition to our club this year. LMSC would like to thank him for his great work all fall and hopes that he will return to work with us for many more years.
